Funeral services were held Monday for a 4-year-old girl and her grandmother who died in a New Hyde Park house fire.

The services were held for 68-year-old Maria Karpinski and her granddaughter, Brooke Schillizzi, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa.

They died on Dec. 30 in a fire that engulfed a home on North 12th Street in New Hyde Park.

Fire officials say the fire was started by a candle and that there were no signs of working smoke detectors in the home.
