A Long Island community came together Tuesday to honor the memory of Heather McNamara, who became the first child to undergo a high-risk operation to remove a tumor when she was just 7.
McNamara beat the odds and became an EMT years later before she died of organ failure at age 22.
News 12’s Nicolette Schleisman spoke with McNamara’s family about the legacy she leaves behind.
