Officials: 2 rescued after kayak flips over on LI Sound

The kayakers had to tread water for about an hour before they were rescued.

Two kayakers were rescued on Monday evening north of the Sunken Meadow State Park, according to Suffolk County officials.
Authorities say the kayakers were found in the Long Island Sound. They say the kayak flipped over and sank.
The kayakers had to tread water for about an hour before they were rescued by the Smithtown Harbor Master and the Suffolk Police Marine Bureau.
The kayakers were not seriously injured.
