Former LIRR worker admits to lying about equipment inspection that caused derailment

A former Long Island Rail Road employee admitted to falsely submitting a document that said he had inspected a rail bond in Speonk.
Video footage from a LIRR camera showed that Stuart Conklin never did the inspection.
A train later detailed and an investigation determined that the part of the track Conklin lied about was broken and caused the crash.
He now faces up to two years in prison
