People who live in the Five Towns are showing their support for a local community center that is currently in danger of closing its doors.
Nassau County purchased the land and building in 1974 and agreed to a 50-year lease with the Five Towns Community Center. The lease is set to expire in July and the county is not offering a renewal. Federal and state grants have allowed the center to provide services like counseling and after-school programs.
The community center is holding a meeting next Wednesday at 7 p.m. hoping to share ideas and support on what to do next.
