Today was the first day of school for the first ever pre-kindergarten program in Uniondale.
The Uniondale School District has leased the Schubert School building from the Baldwin Union Free School District for the pre-K program. That program is the first on Long Island to get a New York State grant to open.
Three and 4-year-old students were welcomed into the classroom Wednesday.
Parents of the students say they are excited that their children will be a part of the school's inaugural year.
