Fifth-graders make American Museum of Natural History their classroom for the week

A class of fifth graders got the chance to make the American Museum of Natural History their personal classroom for the week.
The students of P.S. 376 got to take what faculty called an “extended field trip,” where the students got to experience a unique learning environment for a week.
This is all thanks to the Beyond Elementary Explorations in Science (BEES) program, which is available to all New York City public elementary schools.
“The students do their language arts work, their social studies work, as well as their math and science work using the exhibitions and materials here at the museum,” said museum president Sean Decatur. “I became a scientist because of places and experiences like this… the opportunity to engage in real in-depth learning experiences with students is what it’s all about.”
