Oyster Bay faces two days of snow cleanup while preparing for another winter storm this weekend

Saladino says the town has ample resources on hand to handle multiple storms, including a large supply of sand and salt used to treat icy roads.

After more than 15 inches of snow fell on Sunday, crews in the Town of Oyster Bay are still working to clear roads and restore normal travel conditions.

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino says plowing operations could take up to two days to be fully completed as crews continue to push through residential streets and main roadways. Despite the ongoing cleanup, town officials say they are already preparing for additional snow expected later this weekend.

Saladino says the town has ample resources on hand to handle multiple storms, including a large supply of sand and salt used to treat icy roads.

“That combination of sand and salt is what helps so much,” Saladino said. “And when you have 10,000 tons, we will have enough to get through this storm, the next one and the one after that.”

He added that additional shipments of sand and salt are also on the way to ensure crews remain ready for future winter weather.

Town officials are asking residents to do their part by moving cars off the streets and shoveling snow onto their lawns rather than into the roadway. They say these steps make it easier and safer for plow crews to clear neighborhood roads efficiently.
