With winter weather sweeping across Long Island last week, Brinkmann’s in Sayville saw a sharp increase in demand for snow and storm-related supplies, prompting the store to order two emergency shipments of ice melt and bring in a full trailer of snow throwers.
Just days later, store managers at Brinkmann’s Plainview location say they are fully prepared as more snow is expected this weekend. They say shelves are stocked and ready to meet customer needs.
As last weekend’s storm approached, shoppers focused not only on cleanup supplies but also on emergency essentials. Assistant store manager Ed Padilla says buying trends shifted as the storm drew closer.
“Definitely towards the end of the week, it was more like batteries, flashlights, things of that nature,” Padilla said. “All in all it was ice melt and shovels, which we have plenty of.”
Padilla added that firewood and Duraflame logs were also among the most popular items, as customers prepared to stay indoors during the storm.
Store managers say they expect steady traffic heading into the weekend and encourage customers to shop early for winter essentials.
