It was a special day for hundreds of probationary firefighters as they officially joined New York's Bravest during a graduation ceremony.
The 303 graduates spent the last 18 weeks training to become members of the FDNY. They were joined by their families during the ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York.
The FDNY says this new class is very diverse – 46% of the class consists of people of color, 11 are women and 67 are military veterans.
Three graduates are children of first responders who lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
