Neighbors say the Long Island Rail Road PA system at the Farmingdale station kept them awake all night Wednesday.
Residents say an annoying beeping sound continued for almost 10 hours. Neighbors as far as a half-mile away say they could hear it.
The MTA says the beeping was fixed by a railroad electrician around 9:30 a.m. No other stations were affected.
In a statement, the MTA told News 12 that it apologizes for the beeping, which was caused by a component failure at the station's PA system control.
