An apparent shooting caused a car to crash into a North Amityville home Friday night.
Suffolk County police say the driver, 27-year-old Andre Bristel, also from North Amityville, lost control of his car after he was shot multiple times. Joshua Simms, his 28-year-old passenger, was killed in the shooting.
Police say Bristel was taken to Stony Brook Hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition. He is expected to live.
Neighbors say they heard a series of four or five gunshots before the car jumped the curb and went through three different sections of fence before finally crashing into the home.
Homeowner Howard Richards felt the car hit at about 8:30 p.m.
?I was downstairs when I hear this bam?and then I felt the house shake, so I thought it was an earthquake,? said Richards.
Richards said things could have been worse - his young child was asleep in a room just feet from the point of impact.
