Families are calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to throw out the ban on nursing home visits as many were unable to be near their loved ones on Father's Day.
Mary Ann Grey visited her father while sitting in a chair near a window to follow with social distancing guidelines.
Some families gathered outside Our Land of Consolation nursing home to protest the ban. Tracey Alvino, who organized the rally outside the home her mother lives, says residents are dying alone.
Catholic Health Services says it’s trying to connect families virtually or at a window while following the governor’s order. Susan Sineo, of Manorville, says was difficult not being able to be with her father before he passed away.
She hopes the visitation ban is lifted soon. News 12 reached out to the governor's office for comment.
