A mother is pleading for justice after her 16-year-old daughter was struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run last month in Bay Shore.

Sienna Richardson’s voice cracked with emotion as she described the moment she learned her daughter had been hit by a vehicle on Sept. 20. “He left my daughter on the floor like she was a piece of garbage. Like she didn’t matter,” Richardson said.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows a GMC pickup truck making a left turn at the intersection of Bay Shore Road and Manor Lane when it struck the teenage girl, who was crossing in the crosswalk.

The driver continued without stopping to check on the victim’s condition or offer assistance.

“This could have been anybody's child. She’s somebody’s sister, she’s somebody’s friend,” Richardson said, fighting back tears. “And you just left without knowing if she was alive, without knowing anything.”

The victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Richardson says her daughter is struggling with physical pain and psychological trauma. “She has a lot of PTSD. She’s in a lot of pain. We’ve had to go to specialists. She’s going to physical therapy,” the mother explained.

As the family faces a long road to recovery, police are still searching for the driver responsible. Authorities believe the vehicle involved is a relatively new GMC pickup truck, likely from model years 2020 to 2024, and possibly a 2500 or 3500 model.

Richardson is asking anyone with information to come forward.

“I hope that we can find the person and stop this because if they did it to my daughter, they can do it to someone else,” she said.
