People in East Quogue will be lacing up their running shoes this weekend in honor of a school administrator.

Rob Long was the principal of East Quogue Elementary School. He died in August from colon cancer.

Long's widow, Dawn Long, says before her husband died, he wished that a run be held for him.

The "Mister Long See You Out There 5K" gets its name from Rob Long's phrase during school announcements.

"That just became a thing that was associated with him," Dawn Long says.

The run will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at East Quogue Elementary School. Proceeds will go toward a scholarship in Rob Long's name.
