Tamar Lemoine, of Valley Stream, is sharing details about her battle against breast cancer in the hope that others will heed her warning.

“Don’t wait,” she said Tuesday at Mount Sinai South Nassau.

She warned if you get a mammogram result showing anything suspicious to “follow up” and “don’t let it manifest.”

She waited to get a biopsy, and when she ultimately got one, she found out she had Stage 3 cancer. She said it was “devastating.”

Her treatment for the aggressive cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes, included chemo, surgery and radiation.

She’s now beaten the cancer and said she now has “more appreciation for life” and lives in the moment.

Dr. Christine Hodyl, Mount Sinai South Nassau director of Breast Services, described Tamar as “a dynamic, beautiful individual,” and said she felt honored that Tamar has joined the medical staff in the fight against breast cancer.
