A deputy chief instructor at the Nassau County Fire Service Academy in Old Bethpage was injured in Old Bethpage during a fire training exercise.

Officials say a combustible liquid ignited during the training exercise.

Officials are not releasing the instructor's name, but they say he sustained first-, second- and third-degree burns on his hands, legs and portions of his torso.

He is being treated at the Nassau University Medical Center's burn unit.
