As many as 200 people are still displaced after a fire ravaged through an apartment building in Baldwin.

The building on Merrick Road with 48 units was condemned after a fire on Thursday.

Fire officials say a malfunction in the electrical system wiring sparked the flames.

The Red Cross set up a shelter while tenants figure out their next moves.

Most residents lost more than just their homes.

Susana Canela, a single mother with three kids, told News 12 she lost everything.

"It looks really bad, the damages, they won't let me in the building 'til Monday or Tuesday, and out of all the apartments, the two worst apartments are the one that caught fire and mine," Canela said.

Canela added that she's been staying in hotels and with family. She also started a GoFundMe page.
