Southwest is changing its policy for plus-size passengers next year.
Starting Jan. 27, those who take up space in the neighboring seat will have to buy an extra ticket and it may not be refunded.
As of now, flyers can buy an extra seat and get the money back later or request an extra free seat at the airport.
Under the new changes, it will be nonrefundable unless the flight departs with at least one open seat.
