Delays at Newark Liberty International Airport disrupted travelers on Monday night. As of Monday at 10 p.m., there were 450 delayed flights and over 75 cancellations.
It was a busy holiday travel weekend, and the airport was packed with people flying in and out.
People stood by, trying to find out when they would take off.
"We were traveling all day," said Camisha Hanna, one traveler returning from Knoxville. "We were delayed about, almost two hours."
According to the FAA, a Traffic Management Program was in place for hours Sunday due to weather and wind.
Some travelers experienced delays for other reasons.
"We're on the way to Toronto, got into Newark in good shape, but then our flight to Toronto has been delayed," said Bob Frank.
Toronto’s Pearson Airport confirmed an incident with a Delta Flight. Flights were grounded for two hours, and two runways will remain closed during the investigation.
Flights began moving to Toronto, but Frank was wondering if he needed to make other arrangements.
"Maybe go to Buffalo and get a friend to drive and pick us up in the middle of the night, so challenging," Frank said.
For people with Newark as their destination, there were issues with baggage. Bags lined the wall in baggage claim. A traveler shared her bag was missing.
"Now coming in, of course my bag's missing, it could've been worse," said Hanna. "Hunting down my bag and trying not to be too anxious about it."
Make sure to check with your airline for the most up-to-date information as delays continue.
