Summer is approaching and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is calling on the state to expand capacity at outdoor swimming pools.
Curran sent a letter to the state health commissioner asking for an increase in capacity from the current 25%.
"We're at the same level as last summer and the world has changed quite a bit, including that 50% of our residents have at least one dose of the vaccine, that's about 70% of adults, so we know we can do it safely," says Curran.
Curran says it makes sense to make beaches and pools 100% capacity. Beaches are currently at 50% capacity.
