Three people were injured and taken to Stony Brook University Hospital following a pedestrian-involved crash Monday in Nesconset, according to Suffolk County officials.

The crash happened at the intersection of Townline and Terry roads.

A damaged vehicle could be seen off the side of Townline Road. Authorities have not yet released details about how the crash occurred or the extent of the victims' injuries.

During the response, police were seen placing one person in handcuffs. Authorities have not identified that individual or said why the person was taken into custody.

Police have closed Townline Road in both directions between Terry Road and Lantern Lane while the investigation continues.

A worker who spoke off camera at the scene said county workers were preparing to begin paving operations when the crash occurred.
