A Hewlett Neck man was arrested Saturday after allegedly shoving a woman to the ground, threatening her and damaging her cellphone during a dispute, police said.
According to investigators, Ahmed Khalil and a 50-year-old woman were involved in a verbal argument at a residence on Dolphin Drive in Hewlett Neck when the confrontation escalated.
Police say Khalil pushed the woman to the ground, threatened her, then took her cellphone and damaged it.
Fearing for her safety, the woman fled to a neighboring home and called 911.
Khalil was arrested a short time later and charged with menacing, grand larceny, criminal mischief, and harassment.
