Residents of a Somerset County community say they are shocked and scared after an 18-year-old from the town was accused of shooting at three different houses last week.

Ryan Vandermeer is facing three counts of attempted murder charges and weapons offenses for the incidents. Officials say he shot at homes on Robin Road, Brookside Lane and Gateway Boulevard on two separate nights.

“It’s not good for humanity. Really bad, no one is going to support these guys,” says neighbor Chirje Drivei.

Authorities say that no one was hurt during the incidents, but people were inside the homes at the time of the shootings.

Residents say they are concerned.

“How can he get the gun? Where did he get it from?” asks Charlie Osue.

Vanderveer was arrested on Sept. 12. Authorities say that numerous firearms and ammunition were seized from his home during a search.

It was not clear if the homes were specifically targeted or if there is a connection between the three locations.
