Even with the help of a third party, Brookhaven town committee members can't seem to agree on how a new redistricting plan should play out in their community.
Critics say the plan to redraw boundaries for six town council districts could disenfranchise minority voters, at least in its current form.
Efforts to redraw those lines have faltered in recent weeks, with an official deadline just days away on Sept. 15.
The third-party expert brought in to help suggested Monday night that the new proposals are all equal when it comes to voters' rights.
Monday night's meeting ended with one member of the committee suggesting the co-chairs of either party have a discussion on what's best for the town.
