A CDC panel signed off on a plan to allow booster shots for certain patients, meaning thousands across Connecticut can roll up their sleeves for the third time if they got the Pfizer vaccine.

Those who can get the booster shot are those age 65 and older, nursing home residents and people ages 50-64 who have severe underlying health conditions. The groups are only eligible for the booster at least six months after their second vaccine.

Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday that Connecticut is ready at any moment when they get the approval to administer the booster - with over 800 sites prepared and appointments and walk ups accessible to those who need it.

Doctors at Norwalk Hospital say the announcement on booster shots is perfect timing due to respiratory season - where people come into hospitals with different viruses or the flu.
