A dog that was believed to be stolen in Lakeview has been found.
Surveillance video showed a man parking his car outside a convenience store on Christmas Eve and then grabbed the dog off its leash and put it in the backseat of his BMW SUV.
That man identified as Richard Jones returned the Pomeranian mix named Coco back to her owner, Martin McNeill, saying he thought the dog was abandoned.
McNeill says he was mad at first but is happy to have his dog home.
"Oh, I'm happy to have her back," McNeill says. "Happy to have my baby back."
Jones says he saw the dog locked up by the garbage with no one around and thought Coco was abandoned.
The story aired earlier on News 12 and Jones says he couldn't believe what he saw.
"I was watching the news and everyone's like 'Yo, you're on the news for stealing a dog,'" Jones says. "I'm like 'I didn't steal no dog.'"
Jones got the dog a haircut, a new leash, food and a bowl and then brought the dog back and called the police.
McNeill says he forgives Jones for taking Coco.
