Candlelight vigil held for Mastic Beach teen killed in shooting Tuesday

Dozens of people gathered in Bayview Park in Mastic Beach Thursday to remember the teen that was fatally shot earlier in the week.
A candlelight vigil was held for 18-year-old Marcel Arrington who was shot and killed Tuesday.
"It's very devastating," says Bertram Brown, Arrington's great uncle. "It's devastating to the whole family."
Brown says Arrington was a very good athlete and a good kid who was loved by all.
The incident prompted Suffolk police to be outside William Floyd High School in what police say was a "precaution in response to social media posts concerning a potential threat at the school."
News 12 is told that students were checked with handheld metal detectors before they could enter the building.
Parents say their children also had their backpacks searched.
The social media posts were made following Tuesday's shooting of Arrington, who was a former student at William Floyd High School.
In a statement Thursday, the school district said in part: "The district has not received any threats toward the high school or any building in the district, we have only received social media screenshots of people discussing a threat that someone else heard about."
The district also said that it takes "any discussion of this nature seriously" and moved physical education classes and recess inside for the day.
Police say Arrington was targeted and shot after going to Bayview Park near his Mastic Beach home to meet with someone.
Police are still asking for the public's help.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
