Hope on the football field has been hard to find during the COVID-19 pandemic - but it could be seen at The Elite 5 football showcase camp.
The showcase event was created by Harborfields High School graduate Pat Godfrey, who won two national championships at Clemson.
With high school football on hold, he wanted to give the kids an outlet to show off their skills for college scouts.
"Everyone knows it's been a very tough year for every New Yorker, especially the juniors and seniors in HS, potentially banking on the opportunity to play college football. Losing their season was not an easy pill to swallow," says Godfrey.
The invite-only event featured mostly high-level city kids, but some of Long Island's best were also asked to participate.
With college coaches banned from in-person visits, more than 100 schools signed up to watch the showcase on tape.
