Service has resumed in the Amityville church where a man was stabbed on Friday night.

As News 12 previously reported, police say Daniela Escobar stabbed a 65-year-old man inside the church basement around 8:30 p.m.

The First United Methodist Church tells News 12 it was offering the space for a non-affiliated Narcotics Anonymous group and that it was not a church gathering.

Police say the 33-year-old ran off after the stabbing but was later caught. He is being charged with assault.

The church says Sunday service went on as scheduled with a prayer offered to those impacted by the incident.
