The camp's screening program identified a possible concern Thursday morning, and then again in the evening.
A letter News 12 obtained from the Town of Hempstead said steps were immediately taken to mitigate the risks to all involved.
The town's medical director said anyone in direct contact with the infected staffer and camper were notified Thursday night or early Friday morning.
