With the start of school, bullying is once again in the spotlight and its taking on a modern-day twist.At Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale, an after-school computer club spends time searching for cyber bullies. The Internet allows these bullies to send anonymous messages in chat rooms or through e-mails. The people who are being victimized have no way to defend themselves. A new study released Thursday by the Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) says in some ways cyber bullying is replacing the mean kid in the schoolyard. There are fewer in-school bullying incidents, but more incidents online. School bullying in general is enough of an issue that some kids are promising, in writing, not to do it.
