Brookhaven town officials have changed their minds on placing a ?no left turn sign? at a busy Rocky Point intersection.
Residents in Rocky Point lobbied the town for the sign to help keep excess cars out of their quiet neighborhood. Neighbors say their streets are congested with drivers using the back roads to get to a busy shopping center without getting on Route 25A.
One traffic survey that was conducted showed a car coming down the 900-foot stretch of road every 45 seconds. By the fourth survey, however, town officials say that number had dropped 30 percent, ultimately changing their decision.
