Bridgeport Public Schools are getting an A+ for connecting families with more "critical services and resources" over the past 12 months.

Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery says the district "increased family access to those things" by 21%.

"It is heartwarming for me as an educator to make sure that the needs of students are met every single day -- and so as we partner, and as we strengthen our efforts to make sure our students and families are getting what they need, it makes me feel really, really good that we're doing great things for children, all children, even if they can't seek out and provide those services for themselves,” he said.

Officials say the tracking is designed to eliminate learning disruptions by securing transportation and classroom stability.

Avery says he's especially proud of his record helping unhoused families secure a roof over their heads.
