An instructor at the Bridgeport Police Academy who had been placed on administrative leave has been terminated, Police Chief Roderick Porter says.
Sgt. Marlon Campo had been on leave since February.
At that time, City Council President Aidee Nieves told News 12 she had received an anonymous email that Campo was involved in a relationship with a recruit. An investigation followed.
Porter said Campo's termination came as a result of a discipline hearing Tuesday.
"Sergeant Marlon Campo's employment with the Bridgeport Police Department was terminated effective immediately. The Bridgeport Police Department takes all acts of misconduct seriously and whenever there are sustained charges, appropriate action is taken immediately. Public trust and confidence are dependent upon such actions by the Department. As this is an ongoing personnel matter, no further comments are available," Porter said in a statement.
