A Copiague man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a deadly stabbing that occurred outside of a deli in 2023.

The Suffolk District Attorney says Gherson Lopez and Jose Argueta-Canales got into a fight on Barcellona Place.

Lopez allegedly ended the fight because he hurt his hand. He went on to shake his victim’s hand before stabbing him twice in the chest.

Lopez pleaded guilty to manslaughter in June.
