Bay Shore man accused of leaving scene of multivehicle crash in Shirley

Detectives say it happened on the William Floyd Parkway at 2:40 p.m.

Suffolk police say they arrested a Bay Shore man for leaving the scene of a crash that involved multiple vehicles Saturday afternoon in Shirley.
Detectives say it happened on the William Floyd Parkway at 2:40 p.m.
According to authorities, Walter Goya Trujillo drove a 2012 Jeep into stopped traffic on the northbound lanes near Montauk Highway. He struck several vehicles and caused a chain reaction.
Goya Trujillo fled on foot but officers apprehended him a short time later.
He and two other drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
Goya Trujillo was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with injuries and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage.
Police say 11 vehicles were stopped in traffic when the incident occurred.
