A man’s body was found in the water of Three Mile Harbor on Friday night, according to the Town of East Hampton Police Department.
Crews responded after receiving a call reporting the discovery near Folkstone Road in Springs at 7:36 p.m.
Authorities say they found equipment consistent with shellfish harvesting on the man.
Police have identified the individual as 62-year-old East Hampton resident Edward J. Garbowski.
His cause of death has yet to be announced. However, evidence from the preliminary investigation suggests he may have experienced a medical emergency.
No foul play is suspected. Police say they are withholding his identity pending family notification.
