Destructive winds from Monday's storm presented PSEG Long Island's biggest test since what some people viewed as a botched response to Tropical Storm Isaias.
Over the course of the day, PSEGLI reported over 16,000 outages, but less than 2,000 were reported as of 10 p.m. Monday.
In a statement, PSEG Long Island's vice president of Transmission and Distribution Operations told News 12 they are ready to respond safely and as quickly as possible to any outages.
"They say they're ready for it, but I don't believe it either," says Kristine Agosta, of Bethpage. "We call them and they say they're coming, and they never wind up coming. It's terrible, it's awful."
Agosta says she bought a generator after the last storm, and she planned to use it if she lost power.
In Plainview, some residents told News 12 they were happy with the speed of the response. One man said he lost power around 1 p.m. and was in the process of getting it back just ahead of 5 p.m.
If you do lose power, you can report the outage on the utility's website or app or call 1-800-490-0075.
If you are pre-registered, you can text the word "OUT" to PSEGLI.
