A Baldwin teen exhibited true friendship on a recent class trip.
Malcolm Bell and Jesse King are both graduating seniors at Baldwin High School, and have known each other since sixth grade.
King is autistic and Bell is a popular, student athlete heading to college on a lacrosse scholarship.
King’s mom, Jessica Rios, says she was worried about an upcoming senior trip to Dorney Park because she was afraid her son would get separated from the group or get lost.
She requested a teacher to chaperone King on the trip, but Bell stayed with King the entire day, which meant sacrificing the chance to get on some rides due to King’s risk of seizures
Bell’s mother says she expected no less of her son.
"Our hallmark is about love and loving others,” she says. "Jesse is his boy."
Rios said Malcolm's kindness brought her to tears.
"Just to know that there was an angel in the school that said, 'Hey come sit with me. I'll hang out with you,' and its reassuring. I definitely feel blessed. I pray a lot for my son and I feel god answered my prayers,” says Rios.
