The Rinx in Hauppauge is back in business with some new upgrades.
It had been closed since February to undergo a $5.6 million renovation, that included new ice surfaces, boards and scoreboards in each of the two rinks.
There is also heating in the stands for spectators.
Officials at The Rinx say repairs were needed after the subfloor heating system was damaged. It caused frost to form underneath the rink.
"We're very lucky we had good people, good vendors, a great staff and to have everybody back here again,” said Tom Palamara, president of The Rinx.
The upgrades are the first major renovations at the popular hockey and skating spot since it opened in 1992.
The Rinx has been cataloging it's renovation process online since they began.
