A 2,000-year-old Catholic relic, believed to be the bone of Saint Jude’s arm, is on display at Saint Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre.
The sacred item is on a tour of North America. This is the first time it has left Italy in 1,700 years.
Thousands lined up to see it. Many carried photos of loved ones, asking for Saint Jude’s blessing.
Saint Jude was one of the 12 Apostles, and a first cousin of Jesus Christ. Jude is known as the patron Saint of hopeless causes. Catholics believe the relic has performed miracles in the past.
The relic will be on display at Saint Agnes Cathedral until 10 p.m. Monday.
It will be at the Church of St. Patrick in Huntington on Tuesday from 1pm until 10 p.m.
