The Nassau County executive said he is vowing to continue the county’s partnership with ICE, despite a lawsuit.
Several organizations, including the New York Civil Liberties Union, filed a lawsuit against Nassau County for the police department's partnership with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – also known as ICE.
The lawsuit argues that the agreement between Nassau and ICE violates New York state law, undermines people’s rights, and could lead to racial profiling.
News 12 was told 10 detectives will be cross designated to work with ICE with the same authority as federal agents.
