Amityville school athletes will now be known as the Hawks.

The school’s mascot was originally the Warriors.

Students will now vote on the Hawks logo.

The mascot is in compliance with a new state ban on the use of Native American mascots, imagery and names.

A total of 13 Long Island school districts were impacted by the change.

A lawsuit by Wantagh, Massapequa, Wyandanch and Connetquot to keep its names was recently dismissed.
