Agencies across Long Island are working to keep seniors safe during the heat wave.

Volunteers from agencies like RSVP Suffolk and Family Service League are calling and visiting older residents who are homebound and may need help as temperatures continue to hover in the 90s.

Experts say the combination of age, heat and humidity can be very dangerous.

RSVP Suffolk executive director Pegi Orsino says cool air and cold water are two necessities in hot weather.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s through the week, which has some worried about seniors who don't have or don't use air conditioning.
