A teenager from Huntington Station was sentenced to 12 years to life in prison Monday for a murder that happened two years ago.

Ramon Lyons pleaded guilty to murdering Luis Cameron Rimmer-Hernandez in 2021.

The mother of the victim, Erica Rimmer, says her family did not get justice. She said Lyons should have gotten the maximum sentence of 15 years to life in prison.

Erica Rimmer also says that Lyons has taunted her family on social media by posting rap songs about the killing.

"I was praying and hoping that she would find it in her heart after hearing myself, my daughter, his aunt and my mom speak, that she would see that impact that my son's loss had, has on our lives," Erica Rimmer says. "We have a lifelong sentence of heartaches and pain and grief and he has a sentence of 12 years to life.
