Elizabeth Rosas and her daughter Katherine Gomez have a special Mother's Day bond – one that will last for years to come.
The Massapequa Park mother was suffering from kidney disease for years and desperately needed a kidney transplant.
"Seeing my mother in pain was tough," says Gomez.
In February, she decided to get tested.
"It took about three weeks for the results to come in. I found out I was a match. As soon as I found out the great news, I was like when can we do it," she says.
After a successful transplant operation and four days in the hospital, the women are now recovering at home together.
"It's a beautiful gift that she gave me," says Rosas.
