Eight years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a first responder from Brightwaters is pleading for federal health coverage after he lost his when diagnosed with cancer.
Construction worker John Devlin, 48, spent months cleaning up at the World Trade Center site. In February, he was diagnosed with throat cancer, a disease he says he contracted at ground zero.
Devlin says he was dropped from his medical coverage when he got the diagnosis. He?s calling on the government to take care of him and other first responders who have become ill.
The father of two is constantly in the hospital and has his meals fed through tubes. His medical bills top $250,000, but he says has no regrets about his actions.
