$58M road resurfacing and safety enhancement projects underway across Long Island
Gov. Kathy Hochul said the ongoing work is part of nearly $107 million allocated in the last state budget to improve transportation infrastructure on Long Island.

Work is getting started on several projects to repave major roadways and improve conditions for pedestrians across Long Island.
Gov. Kathy Hochul's office said the $58 million will include resurfacing 104 lane-miles of certain state roadways, reconfiguring multiple intersections to reduce congestion and enhance pedestrian safety.
State Route 24 and State Route 110
$34 million is going to resurface 86 lane-miles on State Route 24 and State Route 110.
Traffic signals are also getting upgraded with more modern technology to improve traffic flow and reflective lane markings and pedestrian crosswalks are being installed to improve visibility.
Work is taking place at Hempstead Turnpike and Conklin Street between the Meadowbrook State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead and State Route 110 in the Town of Babylon, as well as Broadhollow Road between Sunrise Highway in Amityville and Baylis Road in the Town of Huntington.
Work is expected to be done by the end of this year.
State Route 25
A $10 million investment will enhance safety and mobility across State Route 25 in Suffolk County.
18 lane-miles of pavement will be fixed and storm drains will be cleared and repaired between Kings Park Road in Smithtown and State Route 111 in the Village of the Branch.
Highly reflective lane markings and pedestrian crosswalks will also be installed.
Middle Country Road and Coram-Mount Sinai Road in the Town of Brookhaven will be reconfigured to include a new left-turn lane from southbound Coram-Mount Sinai Road onto eastbound Middle Country Road and an auxiliary lane on eastbound Middle Country Road.
Reconstructed sidewalks, curb ramps and new traffic signals will also be added.
Work is expected to be done by next summer.
Sunrise Highway and Sunken Meadow State Parkway
A $6.9 million project will make concrete pavement repairs to improve surface conditions and increase skid resistance along Sunrise Highway between Exit 38 Belont Avenue and Exit 39 Hubbards Path in the Town of Babylon and along the Sunken Meadow State Parkway near Old Northport Road in the Town of Smithtown.
The eastbound-to-southboundturning lane with the addition of an acceleration lane on Community Drive will be added to Northern Boulevard at Community Drive in the Town of North Hempstead.
The eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes will be extended on State Route 109 at Main Street in the Village of Farmingdale to reduce congestion.
A second eastbound left-turn lane will be added to improve mobility on Jericho Turnpike at County Route 14 in the Town of Smithtown.
Work is expected to be done by next summer.
One of the two runways at Republic Airport will also be resurfaced.
