In Trenton, five people have been the victims of gunfire in the last week.

It signals an increase in violence in the city.

Three people were shot last week and two more Monday afternoon.

Detectives with the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that on April 6, 31-year-old Devante Taylor, of Trenton, was shot and killed when gunfire broke out at the Donnelly Homes complex.

Police say Taylor was alongside two other men wounded by gunfire at the complex. Police have said that none of the victims live on that property.

That shooting was followed by another that took place yesterday on Tioga Street. In that case, police say two men were shot and are currently hospitalized in stable condition.

A group called the Trenton Community Street Team is located within the property of Donnelly Homes.

Andre Eutsey says the organization will be hosting what they're calling a "response walk" to address the uptick in gun violence.

“You know, I know these people. I live here. I grew up with some of these guys. We’re really just coming back out like I said to get with the community to see any way we possibly can help to stop these issues from happening," said Andre Eutsey.
